Frequently asked questions

How much does the WhatsApp Business API cost per message in India?

From 1 October 2026, Meta charges ₹0.8631 per marketing message and ₹0.115 per utility, authentication or service message delivered to an Indian number, plus 18% GST. Each number gets 1,000 free service messages a month.

Are messages from customers charged?

No. Messages customers send you are free. You only pay for messages you send.

Does this include the provider’s fee?

No. The calculator shows Meta’s message charges only. Your WhatsApp API provider charges separately for its platform. WaBot plans start at ₹840/month + GST, and WaBot adds no markup on Meta’s charges.

Why is my real bill different from the estimate?

Meta bills per delivered message, so undelivered messages aren’t charged. Very high volumes also unlock lower utility and authentication rates, and messages sent in the 72 hours after a Click-to-WhatsApp ad chat are free.
